David Eckmann is the Director of Business Development for FPL FiberNet, LLC, the fiber-optic subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. FPL Group is the parent company of Florida Power & Light Company, the largest electric utility in Florida. Mr. Eckmann developed the business plan under which FPL Group began offering fiber-optic services seven years ago, and he has been involved with the business ever since that time. ,

Mr. Eckmann represented FPL FiberNet as a founding member of NAP of the Americas, LLC, a consortium of telecommunications companies that worked towards the establishment of the NAP of the Americas in Miami. The NAP of the Americas is the nation's fifth tier-one Internet network access point and the first privately developed NAP.

Mr. Eckmann has been with FPL Group for the past 19 years, working in finance, accounting, strategic planning, and telecommunications. During that time, he established a highly successful subsidiary which invested in leveraged leases. He was also responsible for Florida Power & Light Company's financial planning section and managed the issuance of $1B of long-term securities. Prior to joining FPL Group, Mr. Eckmann worked as an electrical engineer in the design and construction of power plants for Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. and Burns & Roe, Inc.

Mr. Eckmann has a BS in electrical engineering from Duke University, an MS in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of NY, and an MBA with a finance concentration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
